A lot of the locals here don't believe he exists -- just mentioning him pisses some of them off. But there's no doubt that there's somebody fighting with the fog god, with about the same amount of power at his disposal.
I wouldn’t say they treat "their people" any better than they treat us. They offer up locals as sacrifices or food, and the only group of fog god worshipers in recorded history was completely wiped out.
Most consider the fog god to be a force of evil, but... beyond that, there isn't much they can do. A lot of them avoid outsiders, or offer us information or goods in hope that they'll be spared.
